A lecture on the irreversible effects of drugs at the "Hayartun" Center PDF Print E-mail

A1On December 2, 2018, people gathered at the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the "Hayartun" Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia had come to listen to a lecture on urgent topic about disaster of drug addiction from spiritual and medical points of view. 1The audience was consisted mainly of young people and the lecture was initiated by the Youth Department of the Armenian Diocese. It was dedicated to the church's position on drug addiction and the damages to health caused by drugs. Drugs distort many people's psychology from year by year, undermining many families and taking human lives. Drug 2addiction extends its borders, becoming a universal catastrophe.
Rev. Father Tatev Marukyan commented on drug threats from spiritual point of view and spoke about psychological aspect of drug dependence. Rev. Father explained in detail the satanic temptation of young people to use drugs which force them to psychological shocks, irreversible loss of human lives and their families. Commenting on the suicide as an unacceptable end for the church, Rev. Father emphasized 3the negative attitude of the church towards drug addiction, alcoholism and tobacco and called it slowly made suicide, the cause of which is the weakness of will, the powerlessness 4to struggle and desire for temporary dementia and oblivion.
The lecture was continued by Anahit Podosyan and Nano Jaghatsoanyan, students of Medical Faculty of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. They represented through colorful images the irreversible effects of drugs.
It was obvious that the attendees were interested in the topic of the lecture and were listening with great interest. Rev. Father Tatev and students answered the questions raised by attendees. The participants offered to continue this series of lectures on other urgent topics.
