On May 30, 2018, Armenian government delegation, led by newly-elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan arrived in Tbilisi on two-day official visit. Solemn ceremony of welcoming the guests was held at the Tbilisi airport. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan was among attendees.
The newly-elected members of the Armenian government, for whom the visit was also cognitive, at the same day visited Saint Etchmiadzin church in Avlabari and “Hayartun” Educational, Cultural and Youth Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Avinyan and heads of other Ministries were welcomed by clergy and Diocesan officials, led by Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
Diocesan Primate and Heads of Diocesan Departments presented activities of the Educational, Cultural and Youth Departments of the Diocese and expressed gratitude to the Government of Armenia for support and assistance provided to the Diocese and centers adjunct to the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
In the second half of day, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and delegation members attended Tbilisi Pantheon of the Armenian Writers and Public Figures “Khojivank”. Prime Minister and other guests were welcomed by numerous members of Armenian community in Georgia, headed by spiritual servant Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and delegation members laid flowers at the tombs of Hovhannes Tumanyan, Raffi, Gabriel Sundukyan and other famous Armenians. After visit to Pantheon, RA Prime Minister and delegation members left for Cathedral of Saint George. The Meidan district was crowded with people. Thousands of representatives of Armenian community in Georgia had come to meet with the leader of the struggle for justice.
Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, accompanied by clergy welcomed RA Prime Minister and delegation members. At the courtyard of the Cathedral of Saint George Nikol Pashinyan was welcomed with traditional bread and salt. RA Prime Minister and delegation members laid flowers at Sayat – Nova's tomb.
The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia greeted Prime Minister and other guests inside the church. His Grace congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the national movement, his election as Prime Minister and 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia. He wished to the creator of the vision of Armenia's prosperity and welfare, to take on heavy cross and achieve and realize that vision, to continue the triumphal step forward together with all Armenians worldwide. Diocesan Primate urged the attendees always to be beside of Prime Minister, relieve cross he have took and help him to realize hopes of making our Motherland prosperous, victorious and peaceful. His Grace highly appreciated caring attitude of Georgian authorities towards Armenian spiritual Diocese and Armenian Community in Georgia, highlighted the role of the latter in development of Armenian – Georgian friendly relations.
Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia presented RA Prime Minister with the quadrilingual book-album, published by Initiatives for development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation on the reconstruction of the Cathedral of Saint George.   
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia greeted the members of Armenian community in Georgia. Nikol Pashinyan highly appreciated Armenian – Georgian centuries – long relations, called Armenian community in Georgia the bridge which will strengthen and deepen the friendship between two peoples with century – old history, he expressed conviction that Armenia and Georgia which has many similar historical pages will make progress. Prime Minister Pashinyan’s speech was accompanied by thundering applause and “Nikol, Nikol” chanting. Nikol Pashinyan concluded his speech with commemorations on victories of Armenia and Georgia.
Nikol Pashinyan was also present at the opening ceremony of a memorial plaque dedicated to the 100th anniversary of declaration of independence of the First Republic of Armenia at Youth House of Tbilisi.
Afterwards, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia reception was held at the Tbilisi City Council building, organized by Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili were present at the reception. Two colleagues in official languages of their countries congratulated the attendees on the 100th anniversary of both Republics.
The festive event was accompanied by performances of “Goght” musical bend, invited from Armenia.
