Fragrance of Armenian Dolma spread in the Nardevan village of Tsalka region PDF Print E-mail

A1On May 19, 2018, members of the Association of Church-loving Women “Shushanik” of the Saint Sargis church in the village of Nardevan (Samtskhe – Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia) headed by Deaconess Innesa Topashyan participated in the Armenian dolma's community festival. Here too, the flavor of pleasant smell dolma spread in many families.IMG 3770
Delicious dolmas made with cabbage and grape leaves and beautifully decorated cooked by 15 activist housewives, were laid on the tables in the ceremony hall of the village.
The delegation, included the Director of the Financial Department of the Armenian Diocese, Margarita Kirakosyan, Director of the Administrative Department Karen Yeristyan,  Chairwoman of the  Association of Armenian Women in Georgia “Shushanik” Susanna IMG 3828Khachatryan, cameraman – photographer Gevorg Poghosov; was especially arrived from Tbilisi to participate in the event.
Pastor of Armenian communities in Tsalka region, Rev. Father Ghevond Topashyan, welcoming the attendees, conveyed the blessings and good wishes of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, thanked for responding to the festival and expressed hope that such events aimed at popularization of Armenian cuisine and preservation of national traditions will be carried out not only in Nardevan, but also in other Armenian villages becoming a nice tradition. Afterwards, the guests in their speeches touched upon the Harisa, Gata, Dolma festivals which has been held for many years at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and already became tradition as well as the national celebrations, held together with church feasts and encouraged the participants to be actively involved in such events aimed in preserving the Armenian identity, transferring it to the generations and making people's daily life interesting, diverse and festive.
After the Lord's Prayer and blessing of the table, hospitality took place. The attendees tasted various dolmas, all of which were delicious, cooked with special ingredients of this Armenian dish.
IMG 3912At the end, all the participants received certificates of participation from Association of Armenian Women in Georgia “Shushanik”, certificates from the pastor and souvenirs (icons) form the Headquarters of the Armenian Diocese. Armine Ayvazyan, the youngest participant of the festival, received a modest gift from the Pastorate for her organizational activity.
The “Lusaghbyur” Dance Ensemble of the local public school, led by Susanna Babayan, made the Dolma festival more festive with their skillful performances. The 45 dancers of the Ensemble presented Armenian national dances with the participation of the junior, middle and senior groups.
The attendees expressed their gratitude for making the day of Nardivan villagers festive and joyful. It was announced that such events will be organized in the coming years within more broad frameworks.
With the Dolma festival held in the village of Nardevan these beautiful events held in the all Armenian populated settlements of Georgia were completed.
