The 1.5 million canonized martyrs of the Armenian Genocide were commemorated with the Divine Liturgy in the Surb Prkich (Saint Savior) church in Batumi (Armenian Diocese in Georgia). On April 24, 2018, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Father Ararat Gumbalyan, pastor of Armenians of Batumi. The sacred ceremony was honored with the presence of the Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Batumi Eghishe Sargsyan and his wife. At the conclusion of the ceremony, near the church, attendees watched the exhibition of documentary works representing the facts of the Genocide. Afterwards, in the church courtyard, an Intercessional Rite was offered near the cross-stone dedicated to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims. The pastor of Armenians of Adjara and Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Batumi delivered commemorative speeches. The attendees laid flowers at the cross-stone memorial dedicated to the memory of the canonized martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.
