On April 1, 2018, the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated in the Saint Gregory the Illuminator church of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia in Akhaltsikhe. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated and the message of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians on the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ was read.
At the conclusion of the ritual ceremonies the Easter eggs were blessed and divided into the people.
On the occasion of the Easter, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the nearby villages of Akhaltsikhe, particularly in the Saint Sargis church in the village of Sazeli, Surb Khach (the Holy Cross) church in the village of Mets Pamachi, Surb Khach church (the Holy Cross) in the village of Poqr Pamachi and Saint Gregory the Illuminator church in the village of Oral.
On the occasion of the feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ the Spiritual Superintendence of Akhaltsikhe, with the blessing of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia organized an Easter concert program. “Akhaltsikhe” Song and Dance Ensemble (operates under the auspices of Spiritual Superintendence), students of N3 high school after Hovhannes Tumanyan and Akhaltsikhe's Education, Culture and Youth Center; participated at the concert program. National, patriotic, spiritual songs and folk dances were played at the concert.
At the end of the event, spiritual superintendent Rev. Father Hakob Sahakyan congratulated the Armenian community on the occasion of the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ and conveyed the blessing of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan.
The Superintendence thanked all the benefactors who had their contribution in the implementation of the event. The Superintendence also thanked Veronica Hambaryan, (dance choreographer and artistic director of “Akhaltsikhe” Dance Ensemble) and Tiruhi Hambardzumyan (dance choreographer and artistic director of “Gohanamq” Dance Ensemble).
This event was the first in its kind in Akhaltsikhe and, God willing, it should be continual.
On the eve of the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in village of Tsughrut in Akhaltsikhe region, the talented children with deaconess Mrs. Anahit Vardanyan, head of the “Shushanik” church – loving women’s union, prepared a nice Easter festive event, which was the first in its kind. Since early morning, the children together with their parents gathered in the Surb Sion (Saint Zion) Church.
The event consisted of two parts: the first was painting of eggs and the second – festive part. The children gathered round the tables placed in the church courtyard and painted the Easter eggs. After finishing the painting of eggs, the children wore special dresses and turn into beautiful ladybugs and the festive concert started. At the conclusion of the event Rev. Father Torgom Vardanyan commented on the mystery of the day, blessed the Easter eggs, which were distributed to the faithful.
