Visit of Dsegh villagers to Hovhannes Tumanyan's House in Tbilisi PDF Print E-mail

289468922On March 23, 2018, a group of 15 people from Dsegh village of Lori province (marz) of Republic of Armenia visited Hovhannes Tumanyan's newly opened apartment in Tbilisi. The visit was dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the death of Great poet from Lori. The staff of Hovhannes Tumanyan house-museum in Dsegh, representatives of village administration and teachers of the local school attended the event.

In Tbilisi apartment of All-Armenian poet now operates “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center for Science and Culture. While touring the renovated rooms, the visitors noticed with admiration about the Tumanian atmosphere, which soars in the Center, creating the living breath of the late poet.

Gisane Hovsepyan, Head of the Center conveyed the greetings and blessings of Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and presented the guests the history of purchase and reconstruction of the house, appreciating with gratitude the contribution of the government structures and worthy sons of Armenian nation to the return the house of Great Poet to the Armenian Diocesan. The Head of the Center also talked about current activities of the Center.

Roza Ghazumyan, Director of Hovhannes Tumanyan House-Museum in Dsegh, donated to center's library the book “Hovhannes Tumanyan's life and activity” by Susanna Hovhannisyan and collection of scientific articles, called “Tumanyan and 21st century” published by Northern University of Yerevan.

The guests watched the play “The Dog and the Cat” performed by the founder of the puppet theater Armen Hovhannisyan.

For the Dsegh villagers, it was very exciting to be on the balcony where the great poet loved to have a rest and where he was inspired to write his immortal works. The puppeteer Armen Hovhannisyan told the audience about a number of episodes from Tumanyan's memories about the Dsegh residents, creating their joyful mood.

The guests decorated the library of Tumanyan's house with the bouquet of violets brought from Dsegh, and gave the guests Armenian gatas which has the taste and aroma of the poet's birthplace.

Guests from Dsegh also visited the Pantheon of “The most renowned people” in Khojavank and laid flowers on the tombstone of immortal poet from Lori, as well as on the tombs of the other great figures.

The visit of Dsegh villagers, who called themselves pilgrims, ended in the St. Gevorg church, where they lit candles and prayed in the ancient temple, laid flowers on the tomb of immortal Sayat-Nova.
