On January 21, 2018, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan; celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Saint George of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. At the conclusion of the service, under the presidency of the Diocesan Primate and with the participation of the clergy, a Repose of Souls service for the peaceful resting of the soul of recently deceased Deacon Petros Gasparyan; the father of Armenian philanthropist, President of the Foundation for the Reconstruction of the Cathedral of St. George, Ruben Vardanyan - Karlen Vardanyan; and the father of Veronica Zonabend, Ruben Vardanyan’s wife, - Felix Zonabend; was conducted. Following the service, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia conducted the consecration of the newly built Baptistery of the Cathedral of Saint George. According to the canons of the Armenian Church, the Bishop consecrated the marble Baptistery of the church with the Muron to the sounds of psalms and prayers during the sacred ceremony. Bishop Vazgen offered his blessings and remarks of appreciation to Tbilisi-based worthy son of the Armenian nation, David Androsyan, the beautiful marble Baptistery was built through a donation from him. The Diocesan Primate conveyed to the benefactor and his family the blessings of His Holiness, the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, for decorating the Cathedral of Saint George with the new Baptistery, and transmitted him the writ of appreciation of the Diocese and the painting of Tbilisi. Let’s add that on behalf of benefactor David Androsyan the marble flower vases have been placed near the tomb of troubadour Sayat-Nova, on the right and left sides. |
