Sounds of the Armenian Duduk Heard at the “Caucasian House” PDF Print E-mail

On May 18, 2017, the guests of the “Centre for Cultural Relations – Caucasian House” were representatives of European partner organizations of “Horizon” international organization. The “Caucasian House” hosted a concert with a purpose of demonstrating the culture of multinational Tbilisi. Among the attendees were high-ranking guests.

Director of the “Caucasian House”, Naira Gelashvili gave opening remarks. Greeting the attendees, the head of the institution referred to the activities of the Сentre for cultural relations, which brings together and houses Caucasian nations, emphasizing the importance of all the courses, creative groups, meetings and events held in various languages, which aim to preserve culture, language, traditions and identity of Caucasian nations based in Georgia, particularly in Tbilisi.
The Hayartun Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia also participated in the concert. Concert featured performances of the works of Komitas, “Tsaghik es” Armenian folk song by a duduk players group of the Hayartun Center, led by Ivane Mkrtchyan. The sounds of the Armenian duduk immediately attracted the attention of the attendees and received warm rounds of applause.
In his remarks, Head of the Cultural Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Levon Chidilyan, appreciated the support given by the “Caucasian House” to the preservation of culture and identity of the ethnic minorities in Georgia. The speaker expressed his gratitude to the “Caucasian House”, namely Naira Gelashvili, remembering the friendly and kind attitude of the institution, offering event venues, the halls of the “Caucasian House”, to the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, when the Diocese didn’t have its own venue. Currently, the main objective of the Centre for cultural relations is the development of culture of ethnic minorities.
The atmosphere of the meeting was impressive, celebrating Tbilisi’s diversity, presented through songs, dances and national costumes.
