Armenian School Students from Tbilisi Praised Armenian Mothers PDF Print E-mail

On April 7, 2017, just prior to Evening Service, the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted a lovely event to celebrate the Annunciation to St. Mary, particularly the Motherhood and Beauty Day.

The event was organized at the initiative of Church-loving Women’s Association at the Cathedral of Saint George, through the efforts of the Chairperson of the Association, Gayane Mkhityan, honored teacher, Armenian language and literature specialist, from Tbilisi № 103 Georgian-Armenian Public School. Among the participants were pupils from different grades studying in the Armenian department.

The occasion was honored with the presence of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan.

Parents, guests and the faithful gathered for a special program in the church and listened to always contemporary selection of Armenian poetry portraying the beloved and irreplaceable mothers, which was accompanied by wise quotes and beautiful songs performed by the reciters.

Rev. Father Samvel Torosyan, the Pastor of the Cathedral of Saint George, extended his appreciation to the participants of the literary and musical concert, the event organizer and teacher, for her dedication to keep church holidays and national traditions alive with the students.

At the conclusion of the event, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia offered his remarks. The Bishop, referring to the Feast of Annunciation, which is observed almost universally throughout Christianity and is never moved, reflected on the mystery of the feast, the obedience and humility of the Blessed Virgin Mary to give birth to the Savior of the World. The Primate congratulated all those whose name is Mariam on bearing the Holy Virgin’s name, and wished all mothers a long and healthy life in their vocation to educate their children through faith, love, and devotion for the nation and mother language.

On behalf of the spiritual pastorate, the Diocesan Primate presented the participants of the event with blessed crosses.

On the same day, at the initiative of the pastorate of the Cathedral of Saint George and Church-loving Women’s Association, on the occasion of the Motherhood and Beauty Day, a reception was held.
