The Armenian Apostolic Holy Church has maintained the ancient tradition to this day, celebrating the Feast of the Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ on January 6.

The solemn observance of the Armenian Christmas Eve starts on the evening of January 5, as a new ecclesiastical day starts after the evening service, at 17:00.

During the sermon at Surb Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi Priest Manuk Zeynalyan read experts from the Book of Genesis. After that under the leadership of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan the Armenian Christmas Eve Candlelight Divine Liturgy (Chragaluyts) was celebrated. Spiritual shepherd of Surb Etchmiadzin Church Priest Samvel Torosyan conducted the divine service.

Deputy Ambassador of RA to Georgia Vahagn Afyan, Counselor of RA Embassy to Georgia Artak Kalachyan and their family members, public figures, intellectuals, many believers attended the divine service.

During the Divine Liturgy the Message of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians On the Feast of the Holy Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ was read. The tidings of the Holy Nativity and Theopathy of our Lord Jesus Christ filled the church.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia congratulated the audience on the occasion of the Holy Nativity and Theopathy of our Lord Jesus Christ, and wished that the sound of church bells ringing already for 1750 years at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and in the Armenian Diaspora around the world and bringing the light of the Holy Nativity, would grant the hearts of people around the world goodness, love, warmth and peace.

The faithful attending the liturgy returned home with candles lit from the sanctuary lamp. It symbolizes the light of God and church blessing.

The clergy of the church sanctified the office of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia and the "Hayartun” Center office building.

The Armenian Christmas Eve Candlelight Divine Liturgy (Chragaluyts) was celebrated at all operating churches of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia.
