The “Hayartun” Cultural Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia Hosted “36 Immortals” Movie's Premiere PDF Print E-mail

On 10 April, 2013 the “Hayartun” Cultural Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia in Calouste Gulbenkian Hall hosted premiere of the movie “36 Immortals”, directed by Hrachya Vardanyan. Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Vahagn Afyan, First Secretary of the RA Embassy in Georgia Artak Kalachyan, representatives of the Armenian community in Tbilisi attended the premiere. The film director Hrachya Vardanyan and journalist Artak Vardanyan also had arrived from Yerevan to attend the film premiere.

Reporter Artak Vardanyan greeted the audience and by means of the movie he stressed preconditions of the Armenian alphabet creation and the need for the invention of writing. He also mentioned that the film "36 immortals" participated in the Cannes Film Festival, and among 9500 movies was in the top five documentaries, and in 2010 entered the 10 Most Watched Movies at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film director Hrachya Vardanyan touched upon the circumstances of creation of "36 Immortals," which led him to the idea to film a documentary. He also spoke of the general educational value and the main features of the film "36 Immortals" both in homeland and in the Diaspora.

The film gives full information about the life of Mesrop Mashtots, his activities and the creation of the Armenian alphabet. This short film summarized the great history of the Armenian people.

“36 Immortals” is a documentary with artistic decisions that is why it is watched with great interest. Notable is the fact that young people expressed great interest in the film and created the majority in a crowded call.
