Armenian Apostolic Holy Church on the Sunday before Easter celebrates Palm Sunday.

Palm Sunday symbolizes the triumphal "Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem". The Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II announced Palm Sunday the Day of Blessing the Children. According to the Gospels, Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem, and the celebrating people there lay down their cloaks in front of him, and also lay down small branches of trees. The people sang: “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord .”

On 24 March the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia solemnly celebrated Palm Sunday.

On Palm Sunday, after the Morning Service under the leadership of the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan the Divine Liturgy was conducted. Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan conducted the ceremony of Andastan and the Blessing of the Children.

Than Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan read the sermon on the occasion of the feast and blessed the willow branches.

During the Evening Service under the leadership of the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan the liturgical ceremony “The Opening of the Door” took place, which symbolizes the following: the Gates of Heaven are closed for the people and under the plaintive hymn derived from the Psalms we ask the Lord to open the Gate of the Kingdom of Heaven. Bishop read sermon and told about the holiday. Believers filled with the Holy Spirit had prepared for the Holy Week.

In all active churches, that are under the direction of the Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II, had already moved to the new Holy Days Calendar and on 24 March solemnly celebrated Palm Sunday.
