Hovhannes Hambardzumyan, student of Composition Department of V. Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire, often listened in the family to the stories about the Armenian Genocide, and anguished route that passed his surviving ancestors has made an enormous impression on him. He felt the pain of the people since childhood, and every day in the soul of the young man accumulated sounds of music through which he wanted to express his protest. And so the quatrain "Heart" of Hovhannes Tumanyan was that topic, on which the young composer wrote "Liturgy", dedicated to the Armenian Genocide.

The premiere of "Liturgy" was held in 2012, in the Church of the Holy Echmiadzin in Tbilisi. This work sounded soon in four different churches of Paris, including the Armenian Catholic Church. Conductor Rita Kazarian, choir, Hovhannes Hambardzumyan, Thierry Gassin, and Mariam Bullon performed "Liturgy". The impression was so great that the author was invited to perform "Liturgy" again before a wide audience already in France, which will be held in June.

Hovhannes Hambardzumyan is a laureate of a number of music competitions, he specializes in the genre of piano and chamber music, and the "Liturgy" is a large work. It is performed by an orchestra, mixed chorus, organ and alto. The author wishes to perform "Liturgy" in Armenia, on the day of the Armenian Genocide.
