Armenian Community of Georgia properly celebrated the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia. The framework of festive events was rich and saturated. The initiators were the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia as well as community organizations. On September 21, 2018, the celebrations started with Republican Wish ceremony in the churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan presided over the Republican Wish ceremony at the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi. During the ceremony, the faithful prayed for sustainability, the power of statehood of the Republic of Armenia and the welfare of the Armenian people. The church ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan, Embassy diplomats, community figures and members of Armenian society in Georgia. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Diocesan Primate offered his blessings to the people. Congratulating on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia, His Grace touched upon the years of independence which were full of difficulties and which had confirm that only the people can determine nation's fate, its efforts for liberation and will of independence are irreversible, mentioning that the only guarantee for worldwide Armenians to support the prosperity of Armenia is strong Armenian independent statehood. On the festive day the solemn opening ceremony of the Youth and Community Center of the Armenian Diocese took place in the area near the Cathedral of Saint George. The target of activity of the 8th center founded on the initiative of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the support from the IDeA (Initiatives for Development of Armenia) Foundation will be the consolidation of the Armenian youth, their direction towards Christian commandments. The Center has an aim to support community activities. There will be a library in the Center with books in Armenian and foreign languages. The newly opened center is named after the Catholicos of All Armenians Vazgen I of blessed memory and is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of his birth. After the Home Blessing Service offered by the Diocesan Primate, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan; Director of the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center for Science and Culture Gisane Hovsepyan; Armen Bayanduryan, Artistic director of Tbilisi State Drama Theatre after Petros Adamyan; Dirctor of the Press Department of the Armenian Diocese Susanna Khachatryan, Master's degree student of Chair of Armenian studies Armenuhi Podosyan. In his closing remarks, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan urged members of the Armenian community in Tbilisi to be involved with love, patriotism and devotion into the patriotic activities of maintenance and development of the Armenian language and culture out of Motherland, in the brotherly Georgia. The head of the “Vazgen I Catholicos of All Armenians” Youth and Community Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia is Valeri Badalyan, Director of the Youth Department of the Armenian Diocese and the coordinator of the activities is Nina Seropova. The opening ceremony of the Center was conducted by Anna Badalyan. Afterwards, on the initiative of the Armenian Community in Georgia organization, a celebration took place in the concert area of Rikhe, where the Armenian songs, dances and music spread in Armenian marvelous language by various Armenian artistic groups, individual singers and reciters of Tbilisi. The events dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia were concluded with a reception organized by the Embassy of Armenia in Georgia, in the hall of Tbilisi Youth Chamber, where the Declaration of Independence the First Republic of Armenia was signed. Various events dedicated to the Independence Day of Armenia took place in other Armenian-populated regions of Georgia.
