Divine Liturgy of Oath at Holy Mother of God church in Ghzlkilisa PDF Print E-mail

303602229-VThe Holy Mother of God (Surb Astvatsatsin) church in Ghzlkilisa of the Samtskhe – Javakheti and Tsalka’s General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia has its day of pilgrimage which is celebrating every year with Divine Liturgy and visits of pilgrims from various places.
On August 22, 2018, the day of pilgrimage of the church was festive in the village of Ghzlkilisa. The local population was joined by a group of pilgrims from Tbilisi included the Makar Yekmalyan Choir of Cathedral of Saint George. The participation of the Choir in the Divine Liturgy of 9845adba870-VOath was organized and fully sponsored by the spiritual servant of the Cathedral of Saint George Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan.
On the occasion of the feast, Divine Liturgy was celebrated by pastor of Armenian communities in Tsalka region Rev. Father Ghevond Topashyan. Makar Yekmalyan Choir, headed by Choirmaster Svetlana Tatoeva, took part in the Divine Liturgy with performances of wonderful hymns, psalms and spiritual songs.
During the Divine Liturgy, the celebrant touched upon the mystery of the day in his sermon, expressed gratitude to the worthy Aramyan's family of the village by which means the Holy Mother of God church was rebuilt.  He also highlighted that for 17 consecutive years at the day of consecration of the church, Divine Liturgy is celebrating bringing for the faithful Confession and Communion.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the traditional Matagh (Thanksgiving Animal Sacrifice) bringing by Aramyan's family was blessed and distributed to the faithful.
87a38f308876d-VThe day was unforgettable and impressive for the Choir members and other pilgrims from Tbilisi. The day became joyful and unforgettable with the songs and dances and a reception in the nature, at the area surrounding the monastery of Ghzlkilisa village took place.  
It should be reminded, that the village of Ghzlkilisa is inhabited by Armenians and the name of the village means “Red Temple” (“Karmravank”). The village was founded by Armenians from Erzrum province in 1829. The Holy Mother of God church was built in 1869. During the Soviet era it was turned into a warehouse. In 2001, it was renovated and consecrated by the late former Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Gevorg Seraydaryan. That day is traditionally celebrated with the Divine Liturgy and the blessing of Matagh.
