By Pontifical Order of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, from August 1, 2018, Rev. Father Gevorg Asatryan was appointed to serve in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. By the order of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Rev. Father Gevorg Asatryan was appointed to serve at the Samtskhe – Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy as pastor of Saint Karapet church in Gandza, Ninotsminda region and nearby villages.
The dream of Ninotsminda's clergy and faithful was to have a permanent priest in a historical region such as the villages of Gandza and Poka. And by the prayers of the local people, Rev. Father Gevorg was appointed to serve there.
Rev. Father Gevorg Asatryan was born in the village of Khoronk of Armavir Province, Armenia. After completing his service in the Armenian army, he entered and graduated from Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, afterwards, he was reappointed in the spiritual prelacy of army, where he done his spiritual service for more than three years.
Later, Rev. Father Gevorg was appointed to work at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, then in the Diocese of Armavir.
With this appointment, the total number of priests of the Samtskhe – Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy became ten and the number of deacons – three.
