The sitting of the Finance and Property Committee of the State Agency for Religious Issues took place PDF Print E-mail

440411On July 25, 2018, the third sitting during the current year of the Committee on Finance and Property Issues adjunct to the State Agency for Religious Issues of Georgia took place in the administrative building of the Georgian Government. In attendance were representatives of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, as well as Georgian Orthodox Church, Georgian Evangelical Protestant Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church of Georgia. Michael Avagyan, Head of Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department and Karen Yeritsyan, Head of Administrative and Economic Department represented the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
38 issues were submitted to the Committee to discuss, 30 of which were satisfied and the solutions of 8 were postponed to eliminate the identified shortcomings. The Committee adopted a positive decision on the issues presented by Evangelical Lutheran and Evangelical Protestant Churches of Georgia. The Armenian Diocese in Georgia presented four issues:
1.    Registration of the church of Korkhi (Akhalkalaki region)919228 in the state balance sheet and the subsequent reconstruction and renovation works,
2.    Purchase of a place of the former school in the village of Goman, Akhalkalaki region, to build a church, kindergarten and park on the site,
3.    Application to the Isani Regional Administration for financial support for the renovation of the “Hayartun” Center,
4.    Application to the Krtsanis Regional Administration for financial support for establishment of a community hall at the entrance building of the Cathedral of Saint George.
Only the first of the four issues (registration of the church of Korkhi (Akhalkalaki region) in the state balance sheet and the subsequent reconstruction and renovation works) put forward by the Armenian Diocese in Georgia received a positive solution.
The solution of the second issue (purchase of a place of the former school in the village of Goman, Akhalkalaki region, to build a church, kindergarten and park on the site) was postponed for a more thorough and detailed study.  And on the last two issues (application to the Isani Regional Administration for financial support for the renovation of the “Hayartun” Center and the application to the Krtsanis Regional Administration for financial support for establishment of a community hall at the entrance building of the Cathedral of Saint George) the Committee made a negative decision.
