On June 16, 2018, within the framework of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of statehood of the Republic of Armenia and Heroic Battles of May, the joint event of the Sunday school (adjunct to the Surb Khach (Holy Cross) church in Akhalkalaki) and “Voices of Javakhk” Choir took place at the hall of the Samtskhe – Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The event was attended by students, their parents and numerous guests. The event was honored with the presence of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan. Rev. Father Tatev Marukyan, the Pastor of the Surb Khach (Holy Cross) church and nearby villages and Rev. Father Yeghishe Harutyunyan, assistant pastor of the church were present at the event. At the basis of the event was the emphasis on participation of the Armenian clergy in the Heroic Battles of May. Thanks to the hard efforts of the Zaruhi Barbaryan, the teacher of the Sunday school adjunct to the Headquarters of the General Prelacy and Choirmaster of the “Voices of Javakhk” Choir Gayane Aghajanyan, the children one by one presented the importance of the participation of clergymen and detachments, led by them, their great and significant role in victories. The event also became a farewell evening. Mrs. Mira Ayvazyan, the head of the Choir of the Surb Khach (Holy Cross) church during many years gathered children and formed a spiritual choir, which with their beautiful performances of church melodies and psalms were participating in the Divine Liturgies and other ritual ceremonies. The event provided an opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation to the honored Choirmaster. Clergy of Surb Khach (Holy Cross) in Akhalkalaki, officials of the General Prelacy, pedagogical personnel of the musical school of Akhalkalaki Regional Assembly, present and former students of the Surb Khach church Choir attended the event at the hall of the Samtskhe – Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia offered his blessings and gave high appreciation to Mrs. Mira Ayvazyan for long years of work and hard service. His Grace presented the honored pedagogue with a beautiful icon and Rev. Father Tatev Marukyan, the Pastor of the Surb Khach (Holy Cross) church in Akhalkalaki handed over a letter of appreciation. The Choir's students also had a nice surprise. They came and brought a bouquet and a souvenir to their beloved teacher. An exciting moment became also an expression of gratitude to the beloved teacher.
