Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia had meeting with Catholicos – Patriarch of All Georgia PDF Print E-mail

A1On June 8, 2018, meeting of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II took place at the Patriarchate of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
Patriarch’s locum tenens Shio Mujiri, Metropolitan of Gori and Ateni Andria Gvazava as well as spiritual and secular officials were present at the meeting.
His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan was accompanied by assistant to the Primate Deacon Gevorg Antonyan, and Michael Avagyan, Head of Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese expressed his gratitude to Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia for reception and assured that the Armenian Diocese is continuously cooperating with the Georgian Church and Patriarchate and he personally expressed his respect for Ilia II.
His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan highlighted the centuries-long friendship of the Armenian and Georgian churches, stressed that cooperation between the Diocese and Patriarchate will be consistent all the time and they will find common solutions for issues of the mutual interest in the spirit of Christian love and brotherhood. 1
The Diocesan Primate conveyed warn greetings and brotherly love of the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians who in his prayers always remembers the Georgian Patriarch. His Holiness was informed by the Primate that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan had a deep impression on the meeting with the Georgian Patriarch. It was also mentioned that the newly - elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia attaches great importance to the friendship and cooperation between the Armenian and Georgian peoples and Churches.
The Diocesan Primate presented to the All Georgian Patriarch the issues, about which Armenians in Georgia are concerned, particularly the issue of Tandoyants Surb Astvatsatsin (Tandoyants Holy Mother of God) church and expressed a desire deeply to examine the problem once more at the Patriarchate in order together to find common solutions instead of trial.
2Patriarch Ilia II offered his blessings to the Primate's request and instructed to organize a meeting at the Patriarchate to hold a comprehensive study and find solutions for the issue.
Ilia II asked the Diocesan Primate to convey his brotherly love and greetings to His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians and informed that He highly appreciates the efforts of the Armenian Pontiff to deepen and strengthen Armenian – Georgian church relations and expressed His full support to the God-pleasing mission of the Catholicosate.  
The Pontiff of the Georgian church emphasized the steadfastness of the ancient Christian churches and friendship of peoples, which should be based on mutual love, respect and cooperation.   
The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia offered His blessings and said that a bilateral meeting will be held in the Patriarchate in the coming days to discuss abovementioned issue and conveyed His blessings to the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan.
