A1On May 20, 2018, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan delivered a lecture entitled “From pages of the Armenian Church's history” at the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center for Science and Culture.
The event was initiated by the Armenian Center for Scientific Research in Georgia, headed by Professor Emma Akhtyan. The hallIMG 4009 was crowded with people and the interest towards the subject was great. The members of the Armenian community of Tbilisi had come to get acquainted with the pages of the Armenian Church's history and listen to comments on the churches’ relations from the speaker who is brilliant connoisseur of this sphere of science.
Opening the meeting, the head of the Armenian Center for Scientific Research in Georgia highlighted the importance and relevance of the topic, as the knowledge of Armenians of Tbilisi about the Armenian people and Armenian history is at the level of interest and they are self-taught on these issues.
IMG 4048The lecture of His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan referred to the most important period of the history of Armenian Church, until the Council of Chalcedon in 5th century and the following period. The similarities and differences of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church and Georgian Orthodox Church, centuries-old interchurch relations, the role of the Armenian Church in uniting the nation around the Faith, differences between religious and ritual ceremonies of other churches were touched upon.
The knowledge of attendees about the most important pages of the Armenian Church history, the similarities and differences between sister churches and various religions was clarified, completed and confirmed by documentary information presented in the lecture of the Diocesan Primate.  
His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan answered the questions of the audience. A suggestion was made to implement such meetings and lectures (especially about the church history and spiritual life) regularly, for example, once every three month.
