On April 28, 2018, a wonderful event, entitled “My Armenia”, took place at “Surb Grigor Narekatsi” (Saint Gregory of Narek) Spiritual, Educational, Cultural and Youth Center (operates under the auspices of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia) in Rustavi city. Exactly one year ago the Center was established with blessing of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan. The aim of the Center is preservation and development of the spiritual, cultural and historical heritage of Armenian people, as well as consolidation of the local Armenian population around the church. One of the directions of the Center's activity is to bring together young people from Rustavi city, give them Christian upbringing, bring them closer to the native values and inspire the national spirit. For this purpose, there operate Sunday schools, dance groups and youth unions. Periodically organized meetings, lectures and discussions with local Armenian youth by the Youth Department of the Armenian Diocese, give their positive result. The event was organized on the initiative of active youth and Sergo Zadoyan, the 11th grader of the N23 Georgian public school and student of the Center. The purpose of such a nice event was to represent our Motherland to the students of the Center and youth of Rustavi city. Young people, schoolchildren, their parents, officials of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, numerous guests were present at the event. At the invitation of their student, teacher of Georgian language Lela Akhalaia, tutor Ketevan Kashiladze as well as classmates took part in the event. The event was conducted by the author of the project and his classmate Natia Tavadze. Participants of the literary and musical performance represented Armenia's history pages, geographical location, ancient temples and churches, capitals and provinces (marz). The event with its speeches and video became an excursion to the Motherland through its paths of the past, present life and glorious vision of the future. Patriotic poems from Armenian poetry were represented and Armenian dances and songs were performed making the event truly an inspiration of love and pride for the Motherland. Rev. Father Narek Ghushchyan, Caretaker of the Spiritual Center summed up the event. He conveyed blessings and good wishes of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan to the students and all staff of the Center. Rev. Father Narek Ghushchyan highly appreciated the activities of the youth group, the awakening of the national spirit in their souls, which was expressed in Armenian language, with Armenian songs, dances and love and pride for the Motherland. He addressed words of gratitude to the staff of the “Surb Grigor Narekatsi” Center, students and their parents, for whom the Center became a home, a center of consolidation as well as center of Armenian Church and national upbringing. The attendees expressed their satisfaction with such a nice initiative and shared their impressions of the event.
