On April 24, 2018, on the Commemoration Day of the 103rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Saint Gregory the Illuminator church under the leadership of Rev. Father Hakob Sahakyan, spiritual superintendant of Akhaltsikhe and Borjomi regions (the Samtskhe – Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia). At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Armenians from Akhaltsikhe and nearby regions moved to the cross-stone dedicated to the memory of the Saint Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. Spiritual superintendant Rev. Father Hakob Sahakyan and Rev. Father Torgom Vardanyan, pastor of Akhaltsikhe and nearby villages offered commemoration service for the Saint Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. Intellectuals of Akhaltsikhe, schoolchildren of N3 school after Hovhannes Tumanyan, students of Youth, Cultural and Educational Center delivered speeches, reminding the public one more time about the Genocide committed by Ottoman Turks against Armenian people. Near the cross-stone, Giorgi Kopadze, Member of Parliament, elected from Akhatsikhe region, delivered a speech, condemning the Genocide committed against Armenian nation and together with the Mayor Zaza Melikidze laid flowers at the memorial.
