The Feast of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated with special enthusiasm in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. At the invitation of the Association of Armenian Women in Georgia “Shushanik” and at the initiative of the Women’s Union of Syrian - Armenians, more than five dozen Syrian - Armenians, arrived from Yerevan, were hosted in the “Hayartun” Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The guests who arrived on the previous day, on the morning of April 7, 2018, attended the Divine Liturgy celebrated on the occasion of the Feast in the Saint Etchmiadzin church in Avlabari district. Afterwards, the guests went to Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center. The guests were welcomed by Levon Chidilyan, head of the “Hayartun” Center and Department of Culture of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. He expressed his warmest greetings to the guests, congratulated them on the occasion of the Feast of the Annunciation and expressed willingness to continue cooperation between the Center and Union of Syrian - Armenians. Afterwards, Susanna Khachatryan, head of the Association of Armenian Women in Georgia “Shushanik” thanked the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and Diocesan Primate, as well as the “Hayartun” Center for their support in the implementation of such a project. Rev. Father Manuk Zeynalyan, spiritual superintendant of the “Hayartun” Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia conveyed the blessings, congratulations and best wishes of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Vazgen Mirzakhanyan. Rev. Father valued the endurance, diligence and devotion of the Syrian – Armenians to their faith and nation. The first secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Arthur Sargsyan was also present at the event. The latter conveyed congratulations of Ruben Sadoyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia; to the Syrian – Armenian women and offered to continue the partnership and to support cooperation. On behalf of many Arab refugees present at the event and Association for Support of Refugee Women in Georgia, president of the organization Maka Chichua welcomed Syrian – Armenian Women and noticed about the forthcoming visit of Arab refugee women to the Republic of Armenia, planned by the organization. Soloists Nina Karapetyan, Anna Badalyan and Henrikh Petrosyan expressed their congratulations through songs and music. The heartfelt performance of the dhol and duduk groups (directors Robert Kashavanidze and Ivane Mkrtchyan) of the “Hayartun” Center and charming singing of the soloists made the guests’ day truly festive. Vani Nalbadyan, head of the Union of Syrian – Armenian Women and the organizer of the event, thanked the Association of Armenian Women in Georgia “Shushanik” for cooperation and handed a letter of thanks. Within the framework of the cooperation, which started just a few months ago, an exhibition and sale of handmade of the Syrian – Armenians was organized in the “Hayartun” Center. During the day, people’s visit to the Center did not stop. The visitors with admiration got acquainted with handmade and gladly purchased various handmade goods, made by the talented Syrian – Armenians. The exhibition and sale continued until the late evening and ended with the hospitality, organized by the Armenian Diocese. A nice event dedicated to the Feast of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary was organized also in the Saint Gevorg Cathedral in Tbilisi. At the initiative of Gayane Mkhitaryan, teacher of the Armenian language and literature at the N 103 Georgian – Armenian public school, with the participation of the students of different grades, a literary and musical event dedicated to the mothers and motherhood, was held in the church. Rev. Father Samvel Torosyan, pastor of the Saint Gevorg Cathedral conveyed the blessings and congratulations of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia to the students, their parents and guests gathered in the church on the occasion of the Feast. Rev. Father thanked the teacher and students for well organizing and presenting the festive event. The students gave flowers to the women who were present at the event.
