A1There have been friendly relations for many years between the Youth Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the students of Tbilisi №202 School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children, and they are growing deeper and stronger 1year after year, thanks to the visits of young volunteers. Through this cooperation, the children with disabilities expand their friend circle and acquire new friends.

On January 23, 2018, the Youth Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia made a subsequent friendly visit to the School for 2Blind and Visually Impaired Children, this time with a concert and the celebratory cake. The visit was organized by the Department, with assistance from the Volunteer Training Courses participants and with their active participation.

The school hosted creative groups of the Hayartun Center, accompanied by Youth Department Director, Valeri Badalian; Coordinator of the Youth Activities of the Department, Nina Seropova;3 photographer and cameraman Gevorg Poghosov; and responsible for the background music Sergey Arutyunov.

The school students happily welcomed the guests and performed songs and melodies.

The newly created Hayartun Band, the students of the dhol and duduk classes, singers Anna Badalyan and Ani Hovhannisyan, performers Donara Arsenyan and Sergo 4Nazarov gave a wonderful concert featuring Georgian and Armenian songs for the school students and their teachers, which were gathered together in the hall.

The young people distributed gifts to 50 students age 7 to 20, and treated to the students sweets, fruits and the tasty cake with the inscription “Hayartun”, which they had brought with them.5

Following the festive event, the School Principal, Khatuna Jalaghonia highly appreciated the initiative taken by the Youth Department, expressed her gratitude for a beautiful concert, the opportunity to listen to the Armenian songs. She stressed that such contacts make their day at school interesting and fun,6 provide information about the environment.

The Principal introduced the attendees to the routines of the School, where children learn Braille (a tactile writing system), use computers, master skills and abilities that will help them integrate into civil society.

The guests promised the students of the School to visit them again soon and to make those contacts more active.
