The Hayartun Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia Participated in a Concert Dedicated to the World Refugee Day |

On June 20, 2017, the Park of Roses hosted a concert, which was dedicated to the World Refugee Day. The United Nations Association of Georgia (UNAG) and Open House, a refugee integration centre, organized the event. The concert was attended by the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, Sozar Subari; the Regional Representative of UNHCR in the South Caucasus Johannes van der Klaauw; refugees from Iraq, Syria, Ukraine, Abkhazia, Tskhinvali, representatives of diverse groups of communities of Georgia, parents and children. Program coordinator at Open House, a refugee integration centre created by the United Nations Association of Georgia (UNAG), Maka Chichua gave opening remarks. With the efforts of the population of Georgia a multi-national concert took place. Internally displaced and refugee children and women offered remarks in Arabic and Georgian. The Hayartun Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia also participated in the concert. A duduk players group of the Hayartun Center, led by Ivane Mkrtchyan and Robert Kashavanidze, performed “Tbilisi Sketches”, and the Taron Dance Group, led by Choreographer Suren Abramyan, performed a traditional Armenian dance “Karno Kochari”. The performances presented by the creative groups of the Hayartun Center (Director: Levon Chidilyan) attracted the attention of the attendees and received warm rounds of applause. The Regional Representative of UNHCR in the South Caucasus granted a Certificate to the Hayartun Center and gifts to the participants of the concert. On the occasion of the World Refugee Day representatives of Ukrainian, Azerbaijani, Russian, Abkhazian communities delighted the refugees from different countries settled in Georgia with musical numbers. |
