On April 14, 2017, the services of the Holy Friday were conducted in the functioning churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. Good Friday is the day of commemoration of Christ’s tortures, Crucifixion, Death and Burial.

Having a heartfelt desire to participate in the mystery of the day, church-loving women adorned a symbolic tomb of the crucified Jesus Christ with flowers and thick branches of evergreen trees. Later the Armenian faithful gathered in many churches of the Armenian Diocese to offer a united prayer and witness Christ’s tortures. That day, following the Morning Service, the Order of the Crucifixion was conducted in the Diocesan churches.

In the Saint Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan presided during the Order of the Burial, when Christ's death on the cross, and his burial in a rock-hewn tomb were observed. It is during the Burial service that the symbolic Tomb of Christ, decorated with flowers and candles, is processed around the Church for the faithful to witness and participate.

At the conclusion of the service, the flowers from the symbolic Tomb of Christ were distributed to the faithful.
