If academic performance is the criteria to evaluate success of an educational institution, than the reporting concert and applause from the audience measure the creative groups’ progress. It was the task entrusted to semi-annual reporting concert of Hayartun Center’s creative groups. On February 11, 2016, the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted the event.

The concert was attended by the Diocesan clergy, employees of the Hayartun Center, parents and guests. The event started by the Lord’s Prayer and by blessing from the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan.

The performances of the groups followed one another. Levon Chidilyan (Head of Hayartun Center) served as master of ceremonies; he referred to the origin and developmental path of each group, appreciated teacher’s contributions, students' interest and love for multinational and multigenre culture. The Saint Nerses Shnorhali Children and Youth Choir gave a fine performance of Armenian song “Surberi achker”; talented solo performers Ernest Simonyan and Hrachik Asaturov sang “Barcelona”; duduk and dhol classes with number of members increasing in the groups represented two generations and delivered enchanting performance; the Taron Dance Group performed traditional Armenian dances; solo performers Ani Hovhannisyan, Marianna Sahakyan, Marianna Tumanova of Hayos Band Vocal-Instrumental Ensemble featuring new members offered their fascinating performances to the accompaniment of the ensemble’s instrumentalists. The audience was very impressed and was loudly applauding. The presence of Armenian spirit was felt in the hall, Armenian religious songs (hymns and
psalms) were sung, the Armenian Tricolor wavered, prayers of saints were heard, strengthening the friendship between Armenians and Georgians. However, in the crowded hall the need was felt to perform Armenian songs and dances on stage, in the old Armenian theatre.

The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan praised the reporting concert of Hayartun Center’s creative groups. The Bishop thanked the Cultural Department Head, Levon Chidilyan, the Educational Department Director, Eugenia Markosyan, sound producer Sergey Arutyunyan respectively, for their efforts in moving the creative groups in the right direction, supporting them and paying due attention to their daily training. Words of appreciation were addressed to choirmaster Maria Abulyan and pianist Karen Mirzoyan of Saint Nerses Shnorhali Children’s Choir, which was created at the same time as the Hayartun Center, duduk and dhol tutors Ivane Mkrtchyan and Robert Kashavanidze, Taron Dance Group choreographer Suren Abramyan, Hayos Band Vocal-Instrumental Ensemble Artistic Director, Vladimir Asaturov, the parents and students, who make proficient efforts to preserve and develop the rich Armenian culture in the Armenian community of Tbilisi, and pass it on to future generations in the best possible way. In his closing remarks, the Diocesan Primate urged at its best to present the Armenian culture in Tbilisi, because this is the mission mainly entrusted to the Hayartun Cultural, Educational and Youth Center.
