Event Marking Friendship between the Armenians and Georgians PDF Print E-mail

On December 22, 2015, Akalkalaki 2 Russian Public School (the School Principal, Karina Nahatakyan) hosted and event marking friendship between Armenians and Georgians. In attendance were the Very Rev. Fr. Babken Salbiyan, the Prelate of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, together with the Prelacy clergy members, Eduard Aghasaryan, Akhalkalaki’s Head of the Administration, Hamlet Movsisyan, the Chairman of Akhalkalaki’s Regional Assembly, Samvel Petrosyan, MP elected from Akhalkalaki, the representative of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Father Alexander and other guests. After the national anthems of Georgia and Armenia, the concert was conducted with Armenian and Georgian lively song and dance performances. The children recited Armenian and Georgian poetry, which was decorated with the works of immortal Sayat-Nova.

The school under the guidance of Karine Nahatakyan has already hosted many similar beautiful and memorable events.Very Rev Fr. Babken blessed the people present and delivered the closing message, extending his appreciation to the management, teaching staff and students, who contribute to the strengthening of friendship among two nations. “Our ancestor bequeathed to us love and friendship lessons. Love and friendship between us should be cherished as the apple of our eye today and passed on to future generations. Christian traditions had a great impact on our nations’ formation. We went through many hardships and difficulties together, and if occasion required, confronted common enemy. Every Georgian in Armenia and every Armenian in Georgia should feel oneself at home. This is the spirit of friendship and brotherhood,” - stated Father Babken.Eduard Aghasaryan, Akhalkalaki’s Head of the Administration, Hamlet Movsisyan, the Chairman of Akhalkalaki’s Regional Assembly, Samvel Petrosyan, MP elected from Akhalkalaki, the representative of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Father Alexander also delivered speeches.
