On September 12, 2015, the traditional Armenian BBQ Festival was conducted in Akhtala, Alaverdi district for the 7th time. The festival was visited not only by people who wanted to taste this dish but also by amateur and professional cooks, who came to show their skills in cooking and design, present traditional recipes and demonstrate modern approaches. The guests and the participants enjoyed the BBQ and the tasty aromas were in the air. The representatives of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, under the leadership of the “Hayartun” Center Director, Levon Chidilyan attended the festival. A small concert was conducted with song and dance performances, advertisement and surprises while the cooks were preparing their selections for the contest.

The Director of the Press and Media Department, Susanna Khachatryan greeted the participants and everyone who attended the BBQ Festival-2015 and on behalf of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia thanked the organizers for contributing to the presentation of the Armenian culture utilizing Armenia's national cuisine. The Director of the Cultural Department, Levon Chidilyan read a poem “Zarmanali Hay” (“Amazing Armenian”) by Gevorg Emin which he dedicated to the Armenians spread around the world. The solo performer of the “Hayartun” Center, Anna Badalyan performed a song dedicated to the capital Yerevan and congratulated Karen Yeritsyan, the Director of the Administrative and Economic Department of the Diocese, on the occasion of his birthday.

The festival in the Akhtala complex continued until late evening. The people who came to spend their holiday in the fresh air, enjoy the traditional Armenian BBQ and listen to the music returned to their homes satisfied. The representatives of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia lit candles and prayed in the Haghpat Monastery on their way home on the occasion of the upcoming Khachverats Feast (Exaltation of The Holy Cross).
