Armenian Diocese in Georgia Celebrates the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ PDF Print E-mail

On June 12, 2015, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church celebrated one of the five Tabernacle Feasts - the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ.  On this occasion the Divine Liturgies were conducted in the churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.

From the morning, a festive mood and liveliness prevailed in Tbilisis Saint Etchmiadzin Church. The believers were coming to attend the Divine Liturgy and participate in the celebration of one the most beloved feasts. Under the leadership of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Rev. Fr. Ter Samvel Torosyan delivered the  Divine Liturgy and read a sermon on the sacrament of the day.
After the Liturgy ,  Rev. Fr. Ter Samvel read a prayer for the protection of the young believers in the church courtyard, and  put rose petals in water,  marking  the beginning of the traditional game of pouring water. The celebration was accompanied by joyful song and dance performances organized by the Hayartun Center. Everyone, including adults and children and guests took part in the celebration.
The feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated in Akhalkalakis Surb Khach (Saint Cross),  Ninotsmindas Surb Sargis and Batumis Surb Prkich (Saint Savior) churches. On the occasion of the feast,  the Prelate of Samtskhe-Javakheti's General Prelacy, Archimandrite Babgen Salbiyan visited Akhaltsikhe’s Surb Grigor Lusavorich Church (Saint Gregory the Illuminator).
The believers returned to their homes restored  and with bright spirits, encouraged by the priests to start a new life with Christ.
