The respective government bodies are working to solve the issue of the absence of the subject, "The History of the Armenian Nation", in the Armenian public schools. At the initiative of the Youth Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, a history club has been opened, where the members have an opportunity to learn the history of the Armenian nation.

The students studying architecture and the history of culture have also joined their friends from the club in order to expand its activities by exploring and preserving Armenian historical and cultural monuments in Tbilisi.

On May 23, 2015, 2015, the Youth Department of the Armenian Diocese officially presented the History Club. Many high school students and students studying architecture, design and engineering in different universities of Georgia, attended the event. The members of the club decided to clean up the Cemetery of Vera, where many notable Armenian public figures are buried. The following day, 30 young members of the club, accompanied by the Director of the Youth Department, Valery Badalyan, employees Nina Seropova, Hovhannes Shahnazaryan and the Director of the Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department, Mikael Avagyan and Public promoter Yuri Mikirtumov visited the Cemetery of Vera and removed weeds and garbage.

The cemetery was founded in the 1830s, initially as a burial place for rich and noble people. Many famous Armenian public figures and scientists, who contributed to Tbilisi’s cultural development were buried there.

Although partly destroyed and vandalized, the cemetery still has several tombs, which have cultural value and were designed by European architects.

The students, well aware of their moral duty towards the memory of their ancestors, have organized volunteer Saturday workdays in the Khojivanq Pantheon of the Armenian Greats, in the Vera and Petre-Pavle Cemeteries. Similar initiatives will continue not only in Tbilisi but in other regions as well.
