The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is held on May 21. This year the cultural relations center “Caucasian House" organized an exposition demonstrating the different cultures and promoting a social dialogue between Georgia’s ethnic minorities. Abkhazians, Ossetians, Armenians, Chechens, Germans, Latvians, Jews and others presented their national culture and cuisine. The exposition included publications published with the financial support of the “Caucasian House”. The Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, Mikheil Giorgadze, the Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality  of Georgia, Paata Zakareishvili, the representatives of different NGOs and foundations operating in Georgia, the members of Georgia’s ethnic communities and many others visited the exposition.

The Hayartun Center was in charge of decorating the “Armenian corner”, which was demonstrating Armenian musical instruments, carpets, paintings by Armenian artists from Tbilisi, catalogues, albums, rare Armenian publications, examples of Armenian modern and historical literature and in the center of it all - “Hago” marionette from Davtyan Puppet Culture Theatre.

Georgia’s Minister of Culture and Monument Protection, Mikheil Giorgadze, opened the exposition. Both the Minister of Culture and the Minister of Reconciliation viewed the “Armenian corner” with great interest and attention. Levon Chidilyan, the Director of the Hayartun Center, gave them the newly issued Georgian editions of the book “The Armenian Genocide” by Ruben Sahakyan. The Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia, Paata Zakareishvili, the Head of the “Caucasian House”, Naira Gelashvili, historian and expert in Caucasian studies, Oliver Rayner and the community leaders praised the conducting of such exposition. The director of the Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department, Mikael Avagyan, on behalf of the Armenian Diocese and the Hayartun Center, expressed the willingness to participate in further initiatives of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia and the “Caucasian House”. Zhanna Davtyan then welcomed the visitors through Hago marionette reading the poem “Zarmanali Hay” (“Amazing Armenian”) by Gevorg Emin. The visitors had a chance to taste traditional national dishes offered at the exposition.
