On April 18, 2015, two historical events took place in Khando village, Javakheti - the consecration of the bell for the Saint Savior Church and the placing of the cross-stone in memory of the Armenian Genocide victims.

The special service of consecration of the new church bell was delivered by Archimandrite Babgen Salbiyan, the Prelate of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy, with the participation of Father Tatev Maruqian representing Akhalkalaki Saint Savior Church and nearby villages and Father Ter Tadeos Mkrtchyan representing Arakova Saint George Church and nearby villages.

At the end of the service the consecrated bell was on its place and it rang symbolic 100 times. Then the Prelate of Samtskhe-Javakheti’s General Prelacy, Archimandrite Babgen Salbiyan consecrated the cross stone (author, Sos Hakobyan) in memory of the Genocide victims. The cross stone was placed with the help of young villagers.

The ceremony was attended by Ashot Melconyan, the Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Sos Sahakyan, the President of the Board of Trustees of the Fund “Support to Javakhk”, Ashot Hakobyan, the Executive Director of the Fund “Support to Javakhk”, Samvel Petrosyan, MP elected from Akhalkalaki, Hamlet Movsisyan, the Chairman of Akhalkalaki’s Regional Assembly, Eduard Aghasaryan, Akhalkalaki’s Head of the Administration, Gagik Gharslyan, Ninotsminda’s Head of the Administration and many others.
