Classical Music Concert in Memory of the Armenian Genocide Victims PDF Print E-mail

On March 21, 2015 at the initiative of the Union of Armenian Musicians of Georgia and with the support of the “Hayartun” Center of the Armenian Diocese, Calouste Gulbenkian Hall hosted a classical musical concert dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide with the participation of the 3rd year bachelor student Stella Mkrtchyan and the 1st year MA student Marianna Kirakozova from violin class of Ernest Arakelov (String Music Department dean) from the V. Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatory.

The Primate of the Armenian Diocese, His Grace, Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, the head of the Union of Armenians in Georgia, Henrikh Muradyan, and many experts and enthusiasts of string music attended the concert.

Music expert Professor Maria Kirakosova, in her opening remarks referred to the difficult and laborious path that students from violin class must pass and the new highs that are reached by the students of Professor Ernest Arakelov.

Afterwards, young violinists Marianna Kirakozova and Stella Mkrtchyan, accompanied by pianist Teona Mikeladze, performed the works of Mozart, Paganini, Bach, Beethoven, Khachatryan and others.

The head of the Union of Armenians in Georgia and the Primate of the Diocese highly appreciated the skillful performances of the young violinists and thanked the maestro for paying tribute to Genocide victims through this beautiful classical concert. They mentioned that “Armenian people must never forget the victims and must condemn all types of Genocide”.

The Armenian Diocese in Georgia will continue to hold events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide.
