Remembering Ananian-Hovnanian Family PDF Print E-mail

On March 15, 2015 Doctor of Philology, Chairman of the Patriotic Union "Lorva Dzor"("Lori Valley”), Head of RA MES State Inspectorate of Language, Professor Sergo Yeritsyan presented his book “Following In Ananian-Hovnanian Family Footsteps” in the “Hayartun” Center’s Calouste Gulbenkian hall. The author of the book, Armenian public figures of Tbilisi and other guests attended this event, initiated by the “Hayartun” Center and conducted with the support of “Vrastan” (“Georgia”) newspaper and businessman Rafik Aghajanyan.

After hearing the blessings from the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, the head of the “Hayartun” Center, Levon Chidilyan thanked Sergey Yeritsyan and his team for preserving the memory of Armenian businessmen and representing the generations.

The Chairman of the Patriotic Union "Lorva Dzor" sought to make the Ananian-Hovnanian family famous and put their name among the names of Alexander Mantashev, Mikael Aramyants, Piton, and Melik-Azariants. He presented the activities and charity of worthy members of this family in Georgia, Russia and France. Sergo Yeritsyan wrote not only the book telling about Ananian-Hovnanian family, but also made a film about Armenians-builders, creators and humanists.

Yuri Mikirtumov mentioned the warm attitude of Sviri village inhabitants (Imereti region) towards the Ananian family. Even after 100 years, people of Sviri village continue proudly and warmly showing the results of Ananian family activities: “Vartsikhe” wine and cognac factory, a spring named after Ananians, the 35 verst-long water supply systems and the oak tree forest of Ajameti.

The poetess and translator Anahit Bostanjyan, “Vrastan” newspaper editor Van Baiburtyan, historians Ruben Nahatakyan and Enok Tadevosyan expressed their words of gratitude for publishing the book about the Ananian-Hovnanian family and making it accessible for the society.

His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan highly appreciated the work of dedicated sons of the Armenian nation, Sergo Yeritsyan and others. His Grace highlighted the creative, building activity and charity of Armenian businessmen-benefactors. “Their stories should be revealed and told to the next generations”, he said.

Also, a presentation of the Russian edition of the book by, greatly lamented, Sarkis Darchinyan “Tiflis: the Armenian Sketches”, published with the support of the Patriotic Union "Lorva Dzor", was made.

The guests watched the film “Ananian-Hovnanians: Forgotten Paths” with great interest. The film was made by “Kartsiq” (“Opinion”) creative group.
