On November 7, 2014 the private exhibition, illustrating the works of a Tbilisi Armenian miniaturist Khachatur Khostaryan, was opened in Galust Gyulbenkyan hall of “Hayartun” center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. “Hayartun” center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia organized the event with the support of Painters’ Union in Georgia.

The Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan was an honourable guest at the opening ceremony. The head of “Pirosmani” Association Jemal Goguishvili, an employee at “Pirosmani” house museum Lali Lomtatidze, art fans attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

The works at the exhibition, though in a small space, stood out with their uniqueness, impression made from the light of the exhibits, as well as with their perfection.

Around thirty miniature works, which were at the same time unique examples of aesthetics, stood there for the visitors to admire.  

The head of the “Hayartun” center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia greeted the visitors. Then the President of the Painters’ Union of Georgia Meruzhan Shahumyan made a speech on Khachatur Khostaryan’s art. Paying homage to the artist of incredibly creative abilities, miniaturist Shahumyan highlighted the unrivaled talent of master Khostaryan, the uniqueness of his works, his approach to create unique pieces of art with great patience.    

After long years of embossing, the temptation of snail colours all of a sudden makes him create paintings on a snail, harmonizing these colours. So he makes paintings on one snail after another, one painting after another, thus creating a rich world of exhibits. Master Khostaryan creates works of art with his scrupulous paintings on a snail, and the burning candle of the candlestick exhibited make the canvas art visible, these are Mother Cathedral of St. Echmiadzin, different Tbilisi scenes, Holy Trinity Cathedral, scenes of nature and so on.

Talking about Khachatur Khostaryan’s dreamlike exhibits, the speakers miniaturist Gohar Hakobyan, puppet master Zhanna Davtyan, historian Yenok Tadevosyan, representatives of “Pirosmani” Association and the house museum, and others highlighted the master’s rich imagination, the luxury of the palette colours and the harmony of images. The speakers suggested introducing Khachatur Khostaryan’s art to Yerevan art society.
