On September 27 of the current year, with the initiative of the Department of Youth Affair at Armenian Diocese in Georgia (director Valeri Badalyan), the representative of Georgia youth in UN Lasha Shaghulashvili had a meeting with Armenians in Georgia. The meeting took place in Galoust Gyulbenkyan hall of the cultural, educational and youth center “Hayartun”.

Successfully overcoming all stages of the electoral contest, Lasha Shaghulashvili gained the honor of representing Georgian youth in UN in 2014. In October the youth Ambassador in UN will be participating at General Assembly of UN and UN Committee Sessions where he will be talking about the challenges and problems that the youth in Georgia is experiencing.

During all the year he had numerous meetings with young people, representatives of youth organizations, and students all around Georgia in order to fully introduce Georgian youth. This meeting with Armenians in Georgia was also a kind of introduction and cooperation.

Armenian young people living in Georgia introduced the problems they came across. Highlighting the fact of being citizens of Georgia, the fact of forming a part of civil society, and enumerating the advantages of young representatives of national minorities in terms of education, especially higher education, all the Speakers stated such facts as the decrease of schools in the mother tongue, pretest exams, false introduction of the Armenian history and the exclusions of this subject from academic programs, appointing unprofessional teachers of Georgian language in Armenian schools and the fact of rejecting jobs to young Armenians because of their nationality.

As a conclusion the representative of Georgia in UN said that he was informed of all the questions put forward during the meeting, and added that these issues would certainly find a place in his speech scheduled for October.

The representatives of Armenian youth in Georgia readily accepted the offer of cooperation with Lasha Shaghulashvili. They highlighted the mission and importance of the enrollment of national minorities in the construction of a democratic country.
