The new academic year started in “Movses Khorenatsi” Primary School of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

The academic year of 2014-15 started in “Movses Khorenatsi” Primary School of the Georgian Diocese on September 9, 2014. Before entering the classrooms full of balloons of different colours and various toys, around 50 children dressed in beautiful clothes and with colorful flowers in hands, gathered in the yard of Tbilisi St. Echmiadzin church together with their parents to participate in the Morning Prayer and to receive the spiritual father’s blessings. The teachers of the Primary School and the employees of the “Hayartoun” center met the children and accompanied them to church.

After Lord’s Prayer the Spiritual shepherd of Tbilisi St. Echmiadzin Church Priest Samvel Torosyan congratulated the children on the new academic year and wished them health, interesting and successful days. He conveyed the message that the children’s day in the Primary School would start with a participation in the Morning Prayer and with the Lord’s blessings like in the previous years.  

The first day in the Primary School started with the cry of the newcomers, happy voices of the elders and with interesting games.

St. Movses Khorenatsi” Primary School has a history of only four years. It was established with the initiative of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan. The school aims to preserve the Armenian nation by educating an Armenian child with an Armenian soul, as well as to lead them to Armenian schools. As per the director of the Educational Department of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, the head of “St. Movses Khorentatsi” Primary School Yevgenya Markosyan if the Primary School started it existence only with seven children in the first year, then the number of the newcomers has increased till 27, and it is still expected to grow. She proudly mentioned that during the last year the Primary School led 25 children to Armenian schools, where they were distinguished by their high level of preparedness.

The Primary School with its schedule and the teachers started its works. It should be mentioned that besides the happy and cognitive-training games, the children also learn songs and dances, painting, as well as hand work. And the pupils of the senior group learn preliminary arithmetic, literacy; acquire general knowledge and spiritual education. Children will still be accepted to the Primary School till the end of September.
