On May 21, the big hall of Akhalkalaki Museum of Regional Studies hosted an art exhibition entitled Learn about Javakheti and Its Churches, which was held under the auspices of the Vicariate ofthe Armenian Apostolic Churchin Samtskhe-Javakheti. Armenian churches located in different corners of Javakheti were exhibited. Young artists Arman Torosyan and Hrachya Safaryan displayed almost 30 canvases regarding the aforementioned topic.

Priest Tatev Marukyan, a spiritual shepherd of Surb Khach (Holy Cross) Church of Akhalkalaki and nearby villages, delivered a speech and blessed the audience. “It is remarkable that Javakheti region hosts this exhibition. This marvelous and unprecedented exhibition can tell a lot. Everything was depicted in art and it is really wonderful.” Zhora Snkhchyan, Head of Rafael-Javakh Cultural and Educational Center in Ninotsminda, said, with absolute certainty, that the unprecedented exhibition would have its continuation and it was a message to humanity.

It came as a great surprise to the exhibition author to learn that there were churches built in every corner of Javakheti. “I decided to show many churches and opened an exhibition, as there has been no exhibition about churches yet.”

The exhibition will run for five days. It was attended by the clergy of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka region, Akhalkalaki regional administration and council leaders, public and political figures, teachers, art-lovers and many others.
