The Armenian Center for Scientific Research in Georgia commemorated the 99th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide PDF Print E-mail

The Armenian Center for Scientific Research in Georgia public association, under the auspices of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, initiated “The wound is still fresh” scientific and cultural event, which became the next event at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, dedicated to the 99thAnniversary of the Armenian Genocide implemented by the Ottoman Empire in Western Armenia. The event was supplemented with photographs depicting the horrors of Genocide with comments in three languages, which the management of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in the Republic of Armenia gave the “Arevik” Charitable Foundation of Helping Armenian Children of Georgia.

Intellectuals and representatives of the Armenian community in Tbilisi attended the meeting. Emma Akhtyan, Head of the Armenian Center for Scientific Research in Georgia nonprofit organization, opened the event. She expressed her gratitude to Hayk Demoyan, Director of Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, for the exhibits, which Deputy Chairman of the foundation Inga Aghekyan had brought from Yerevan. In her statement she stressed the importance by means ofsimilar events to transfer the Genocide issue to a new generation and at the end of her speech read an extract from "The Armenian Dante-esque" by Hovhannes Shiraz.

Valery Hunanyants, historians Yenok Tadevosyan and Norayr Baghdasaryan delivered a speech on the Genocide issue. Poetesses Anahit Bostanjyan, Marina Mosesova-Kirakozova and others read their own works dedicated to the Armenian Genocide.
