On the 23rd and 24th of April events to commemorate the Armenian Genocide victims were held in the Armenian community of Batumi.

On April 23 in Surb Prkich Church of Batumi spiritual shepherd of Armenians in Adjara, Guria and Imereti at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, Priest Ararat Gumbalyan, through the offices of the clergy conducted the Rest Service, after that a requiem service in the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims was held in the yard of the church. General Consul of the Republic of Armenia to Batumi, Aram Grigoryan, Second Secretary of Consulate General Armen Grigoryan, young people and the faithful attended the ceremony. After that the candles were lit. Under the leadership of the clergy and Armenian youth movement a torch-light procession took place. The participants from Surb Prkich Church headed to the seashore, stopping along the way at Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Batumi. By the sea the young people lit 12 sky lanterns, which symbolized 12 vilayets of Western Armenia, were the massacre took place. It should be noted that similar procession took place in Batumi for the first time.

On the 24th of April under the leadership of Priest Ararat Gumbalyan the Divine and Immortal Liturgy was celebrated in the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims. After a requiem service flowers commemorating victims of the Armenian Genocide were laid at the Khachkar in the yard of the church.

Later at № 1 music school in Batumi a literary-musical evening, dedicated to the 99th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, featuring "Aghbyur" Choir of Surb Prkich Church, Sunday school and the Armenian school students was held.
