On April 25, at the initiative of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia an evening consecrated to the memory of publicist, former deputy chief editor of “Vrastan” (“Georgia”), Chairman of the Union of Armenian Intellectuals of Georgia – Ruben Torosyan was organized. Ruben Torosyan’s coworkers, friends, connoisseurs of his work and merit, his family members were gathered in the hall.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia had a tone of loss and grief. A plaintive melody filled the hall, burning candles washed the candelabrums with tears. The screen showed Ruben Torosyan’s portrait. Levon Chidilyan, Head of the Cultural Department at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia and coordinator of the “Hayartun” Center, opened the memorial evening; he spoke about the selfless activity conducted by Ruben Torosyan in the closing stages of his life, when he was elected Chairman of the Union of Armenian Intellectuals of Georgia. It was him who initiated to launch the series of events entitled “Forgotten Names – Armenian Intellectuals of Tbilisi”, he suggested publishing the diocesan newspaper etc.

Yenok Tadevosyan, Chairman of the Union of Armenian Intellectuals of Georgia, Professor Emma Akhtyan, journalist Juliette Badalyan, journalist Susanna Khachaturyan, poetess Anahit Bostanjyan, Bella Arutyunova paid tribute to Ruben Torosyan, who died too soon, in their statements they presented his life and career and characterized him as a publicist, strict and experienced manager, wonderful friend, active public figure, kind and communicable man, who was devoted to his family. The Armenian community of Tbilisi and the Armenian journalism of Georgia will miss him a lot.

At the end Ruben Torosyan’s son Garik Torosyan expressed his gratitude for high appreciation of his father’s activities and honoring his memory.
