Presentation of book “Stories” by Tserun Torgomyan in the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia PDF Print E-mail

On April 22, 2014 at the initiative of the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia and Embassyof the Republic ofArmeniainGeorgia, under the auspices ofthe NationalParliamentary Library of Georgia, the library hall in Tbilisi hosted a presentation of storybook “Stories” by deceased Armenian novelist of Tbilisi Tserun Torgomyan, commemorating the Armenian Genocide. Counselor of RA Embassy to Georgia, Tserun Torgomyan’s grandson Levon Torgomyan took part in the event in order to pay tribute to the memory of his grandfather.

The book was published through the intermediary of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia and with financial support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The event started with a prayer and blessing of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan. Torgomyan’s family members attended the event.

Poetess and translator Anahit Bostanjyan, who was the event host and organizer, presented in detail Tserun Torgomyan’s life and work, as well as his rich literary heritage. The reporter recalled her connections with Tserun Torgomyan’s family, the author’s desire to write even after vision loss and named him a classical writer, who had found his permanent place at the Armenian literary arena.

Everyone who delivered a speech touched upon Torgomyan’s works, research topics, the horrors of Genocide, reminiscence of escape from Van and terrible visions, recalling stories “The Milksop”, “The Battle” and novel “Eternal Flames”.

The famous author’s son Levan Torgomyan expressed his gratitude for commemorating with respect Tserun Torgomyan’s blessed memory and adding of that published stories to his books. The extracts from the authors’ storybook were read at the presentation. At the end of the event the attendees received the storybook by Tserun Torgomyan.
