Art School students paid a friendly visit to the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

On February 1, 2014 the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia hosted a concert of students of Tbilisi Art School № 10 named after Aram Khachaturian entitled “Friendly Visit”, which was dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the great Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian. It was initiated by the Union of Armenian Musicians of Georgia, with the support of the “Hayartun” Center and in collaboration with Tbilisi Art School № 10 named after Aram Khachaturian. Deputy Ambassador of RA to Georgia Vahagn Afyan and his wife, veteran teachers of Art School № 10, famous musicians, artists, parents, graduates and current students of the music school were among the honored guests.

The Chairman of the Union of Armenian Musicians of Georgia Artem Kirakozov delivered a welcome speech and opened the event. Principal of School № 10 Tariel Beridze expressed his gratitude to the initiators of the event; he underlined school’s pride and responsibility to be named after the great composer Aram Khachaturian. This friendly visit and performance of music school students in front of the composer’s compatriots he called original demonstration of responsibility.

Students of music school Elene Gadrani, Lika Bakradze, Salome Merabishvili, Mariam Matsko, Nana Ustarashvili, Dea Tskitishvili, Anna Kocharyan, Merab Sepashvili, Mariam Mamporia, David Akopov brilliantly performed the works by Komitas, Arno Babajanyan, Gia Kancheli, Giorgi Tsabadze, Franz Liszt, Korsakov, earning a thunderous applause from the audience and praise of teachers Mehrabyan, Bandura, Beridze, Chelidze, Galichyan, Esitashvili, Mirzashvili, pianist Gubaneishvili.

Graduate of this school, musician Yesai Abovyan welcomed the implementation of this friendly visit, and Zhanna Davtyan, who had taken music lessons at this school half a century ago, bowed down before an elderly school teacher, pianist Iveta Mirabyan and expressed her gratitude for the organization of similar event.

On behalf of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia all participants received presents from International Organization Samaritan's Purse in Georgia.
