On January 6, on the Feast of the Holy Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ the Immortal and Divine Liturgy was celebrated at all operating churches of Javakheti.

The Vicar-General of Javakhk Supreme Archimandrite Babken Salbiyan conducted a divine service at Surb Khach Church in Akhalkalaki.

During the Divine Liturgy Priest Ter Tatev Marukyan read the Message of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians On the Feast of the Holy Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ, after that Archimandrite Babken Salbiyan proclaimed the Good tidings of the Holy Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was born on January 6 and baptized 30 years later on his Birthday. Glory to God, for He was born of the Holy Virgin, on his birthday was baptized in the Jordan River, blessing the water and filling it with power, making the womb of baptistery fertile, so that we could be born again through the baptism of the Holy Spirit and become the children of God. That is why the Armenian Church has maintained that ancient tradition to this day, celebrating the Feast of the Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ on January 6.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy under the leadership of the Vicar-General of Javakhk Supreme Archimandrite Babken Salbiyan the ceremony of the Jurorhnek, or the "Blessing of Water" was held. This year Petros Grigoryan took this pious responsibly of the "godfather of the cross" at Surb Khach Church in Akhalkalaki. The water was blessed with Holy Chrism, and according to the tradition people took some blessed water with them.
