Presentation of two books at the “Hayartun” Center PDF Print E-mail

Under the auspices of the “Hayartun” Cultural Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, and with financial support from RA Ministry of Diaspora and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the books by the members of theVernatunUnionof Armenian Writersof Georgia - “Sunset” poetry collection by Ninotsminda resident Hovhannes Marikyan and collection of prose works “Doctor Sanjay” by residing in Tbilisi journalist Sergey Arakelyan were published.

Presentation of the books took place on December 8, at the “Hayartun” Center, and was attended by the leaders of creative unions in Georgia, the members of theVernatunUnion of Armenian Writers of Georgia, intellectuals, famous faces of culture and literature, members of the public. The delegation from Ninotsminda, led by President of the Vernatun Union of Armenian Writers of Georgia Gevorg Snkhchyan, had specially arrived to participate in presentation. The delegation consisted of regional newspaper “Arshaluys” (“Sunrise”) editor Manuk Karakhanyan, poet Hovhannes Marikyan, Hamlet Aroyan, Hmayak Grigoryan, Divin Kashanyan, Artur Kurdodlyan.

The event started with Our Father Prayer, after that responsible for the cultural department of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia Levon Chidilyan opened the event.

The “Vernatun” Union President Gevorg Snkhchyan recalled the publishing achievements of the union and presented Hovhannes Marikyan, who has already written 7 books. Even though the skillful writer named the poetry collection “Sunset”, it shows comprehended sensuousness and bright ideas. While a published novel from “Doctor Sanjay” collection of Sergey Arakelyan prose works is an interesting story about the difficult social situation of the Indian people.

Chairman of "Kamurj" Public Organization for the Armenian-Georgian literary relations, poetess and translator Anahit Bostanjian, the editor of "Vrastan" ("Georgia") Van Baiburtian, regional newspaper “Arshaluys” (“Sunrise”) editor Manuk Karakhanyan underlined that every year 2 or 3 books, selected from works of writers of various age, are being published by the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia. The speakers congratulated the authors on the publication of the works and their presentation to the reader, calling each new book a new birth.

After that the authors delivered a speech. Hovhannes Marikyan and Sergey Arakelyan expressed their appreciation for the coordinator of the “Hayartun” Center Levon Chidilyan, through whose efforts publication related issues are being solved, and they also expressed their reverence for the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, thank to his support and devotional approach the authors are honored to see their works published.

The Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan blessed the audience at the end of the event. The Head of the Diocese appreciated President of the Vernatun Union of Armenian Writers of Georgia Gevorg Snkhchyan, he stressed the service for the good of the nation that Gevorg Snkhchyan would conduct by assuming the duties of coordinator at newly-opened Rafael Javakhk Gharslyan Center in Ninotsminda. His Grace expressed his gratitude to RA Ministry of Diaspora and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation that show their financial support to the initiatives of the Diocese. His Grace congratulated the authors and marked that through the mediation of the Diocese they would continue the publication of books and the organization of their presentations.

At the initiative of distinguished teacher and a board member of the “Vernatun” Union Roza Zohrabyan, high school students of Tbilisi schools № 104 and №110 - Liza Torosyan, Aram Melikyan, Aram Movsisyan and Anna Harutyunyan recited poems and read pieces from poetry and prose collections by Sergey Arakelyan and Hovhannes Marikyan.

The performance of pianist Yesai Abovyan, singers Nina Karapetyan-Gevorkova and Genrikh Petrosyan, dance ensemble "Vanq"(choreographer Liana Kashavanidze) filled evening with lyrical charm. Books “Sunset” and “Doctor Sanjay” signed by the authors were handed out to the audience.
