The International Day for Tolerance is observed on November 16. Many different events are held on this annual holiday, which serve as reminder of the need for dialogue, cooperation and respect between cultures and civilizations.

“Children and Youth National Center of Georgia” marked the International Day for Tolerance with week-long events, in which different creative teams and ensembles of multinational Georgia were involved. St. Nerses Shnorhali Youth Choir of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia (conductor –Maria Abulyan, and Karen Mirzoyan - piano) also took part in final concert program, dedicated to the International Day for Tolerance.

The choir performed three group songs of different genres. They sang “The Dream” of Smbat Shahaziz arranged by Komitas, Anush's aria from the opera "Anush" by Armen Tigranian, “Ding-Dong” by Robert Amirkhanyan. The choir performance was greeted with thunderous applause from the audience.

Coordinator of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia Levon Chidilyan, artistic director Pavel Oganezov, responsible for the technical service department of the Diocese Valera Badalyan, representatives of different national communities and religious organizations, parents and guests attended the concert.

The leading officials from executive and legislative bodies of Georgia, representatives of different public organizations in Tbilisi and many guest participated in the meeting on November 16 at Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel in Tbilisi, organized by State Ministry for Reintegration(Georgia) and dedicated to the International Day for Tolerance. Spiritual shepherd of the Cathedral of Saint George Priest Narek Ghushchyan, coordinator of the “Hayartun” Center Levon Chidilyan, responsible for the technical service department Valera Badalyan attended the meeting.

The choir of Surb Gevorg Church and Surb Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi led by choirmaster Louisa Vardanova performed at the event. Makar Yekmalyan’s song “Ov Hayots Ashkhar” performed by the choir received a warm welcome from the audience.

Moreover, on November 19, 1995 UNESCO adopted the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance, and in 1996, the UN General Assembly invited UN Member States to observe the International Day for Tolerance on 16 November.
