Exhibition and Sale of Works of People with Disabilities at the “Hayartun” Cultural Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

On November 15, the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Cultural Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia hosted an exhibition and sale of handmade works created by people with disabilities. It was organized by Armenian Association for the Disabled PYUNIC (Phoenix) and the Georgian Union “For People with Special Needs", with the support of the “Hayartun” Cultural Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, within the framework of the overall project entitled "We Are Special, But We Possess Abilities."

At the exhibition and sale Project Manager Ruzanna Sargsyan represented the Armenian Association for the Disabled PYUNIC (Phoenix). This welfare institution unites people with health problems. There is a college at the organization, where the disabled are taught arts and different types of crafts. The organization frequently participates in similar events and in its turn initiates exhibitions and sales of handmade works of the college students. This exhibition and sale is their first event abroad, if not taking into account the participation in festival of works created by people with disabilities in Moscow. The guests from Armenia had brought paintings, embroidery samples, the woodwork and carpets.

The Georgian Union “For People with Special Needs", headed by General Manager Nana Lomadze, helps people with impaired mental development and involves them in occupational therapy. They presented scented candles, wooden boards, kitchen utensils, toys, notepads and postcards.

Ruta Casablanca, Advisor to the Organization "In the Name of Joint Real Change", Chairman of the movement "Accessible Environment for All" Guram Chkheidze, Deputy Coordinator of the International Organization Samaritan's Purse in Georgia Karen Yeritsyan and others were among the visitors of the exhibition and sale.

On behalf of International Organization Samaritan's Purse in Georgia the participants of the exhibition and sale received presents.
