TBILISOBA

Tbilisoba festival dedicated to the picturesque Georgian capital was celebrated on October 4-6 inclusive. The traditional holiday of this multinational city is a common joy and the expression of love of all its inhabitants. It is therefore understandable that the celebrations were concentrated in the picturesque city area - Abanotubani, where side-by-side the temples of four different denominations are located.

The “Hayartun” Cultural Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia (coordinator – Levon Chidilian, artistic director Pavel Oganezov) had received an offer from the director of the City Hall and the organizer of the event Zurab Gugushvili to take part in Tbilisoba festival and sent song and dance ensembles, individual singers of the center to participate in the concert program.

St. Nerses Shnorhali Choir of the “Hayartun” Center under the guidance of conductor Mara Abulian performed two songs during the festival. They performed song “Ampi takits” from “Anush” opera by Armen Tigranian, who for many years lived and worked in Tbilisi, and also the Armenian and Georgian versions of song “Tbiliso” by Revaz Laghidze. The organizers of the event especially appreciated the performance of the last song. During the celebration the youth choir was the first to perform the song “Tbiliso” which is proclaimed anthem of the capital city.

Dance ensembles “Jeyran” and “Mush” of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia that performed dances “Krunkner”, “Tavig” and “Hay, Hay” (choreographer Svetlana Yeritsian), and Ani Ghushchian, who beautifully sang “Du im hurines” by Sayat-Nova, were welcomed with warm applause. Despite bad and cold weather Tbilisoba festival continued late into the night.
