The Beginning of a New Academic Year at One-Day Schools of the Armenian Language at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

On the 14th of September, 2013, at Surb Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia the blessing ceremony of the new academic year at one-day diocesan schools of Armenian language was conducted. The first and second year students of schools named after St. Gregory Narekatsi and St.Prophet Eghia, their parents and guests gathered in the church.

The blessing ceremony started with Our Father Prayer and church bells ringing. Under the leadership of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan the religioushymn “Rejoice, Holy Churchwas performed, after that spiritual shepherd of Surb Etchmiadzin Church Priest Samvel Torosyan read The Parable of the Sower from the Holy Gospel. His Grace finished the blessing of one-day schools with the prayer to the Savior.

The Head of the Diocese welcomed the school students, their parents, teachers Tamara Gaboyan and Roza Zohrabyan and responsible for the educational department Eugenia Markosyan, congratulated them on the beginning of a new academic year, explained the meaning of the Gospel parable, mentioned the necessity to know the mother tongue, to receive the Armenian education, to be closer tothe Armenian Church, know its history, and the importance ofsermonsin the education. His Grace urged the teachers and the leaders in addition to the alphabet learning to broaden anddeepen thework aimed at cognition of the nation and native people by organizingvariousevents.

On the 15th of September a new academic year also started at Armenian language Sunday schools named after St.Mesrop Mashtots in Batumi and “Vram Shapuh” in Kobuleti of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia.
